Complaints & Consumer Protection

CashWaves is committed to transparency and consumer awareness. While we do not issue loans or make credit decisions, we believe users should understand their rights and know where to seek assistance if issues arise.

Important: We Are Not a Lender

CashWaves does not:

  • Approve loans
  • Issue funds
  • Set loan terms
  • Manage repayments
  • Collect payments

If you have a complaint about a specific loan, repayment issue, or lender behaviour, you must contact your lender directly.

Loan agreements are entered into between you and the lender.

For more information about our role, please visit our About Us page.

Step 1: Contact Your Lender First

If you have concerns about:

  • Loan fees
  • Repayment terms
  • Collection practices
  • Account errors
  • Funding delays

You should first contact the lender listed in your loan agreement.

Most regulated lenders have internal complaint resolution procedures.

Step 2: Contact Your Provincial Regulator

Payday lending in Canada is regulated at the provincial level.

If you believe a lender has violated provincial laws, you may contact your province’s regulatory authority.

Ontario

Regulator: Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA)

Alberta

Regulator: Service Alberta

British Columbia

Payday lenders are regulated under provincial consumer protection legislation.

Manitoba

Regulated by Manitoba Consumer Protection authorities.

Quebec

Regulated under provincial consumer protection laws.

Saskatchewan

Prince Edward Island

Consumer lending is governed by provincial consumer protection laws.

You can also review our Locations section for province-specific information.

Recognizing Responsible Lending Practices

Regulated lenders must:

  • Clearly disclose total borrowing costs
  • Provide written loan agreements
  • Follow provincial fee caps
  • Respect cooling-off periods (where applicable)
  • Avoid misleading advertising

If you believe these standards were not followed, contact your provincial regulator.

If You Are Facing Financial Hardship

If you are experiencing ongoing debt challenges, consider seeking help from:

  • A licensed credit counselling organization
  • A nonprofit debt advisory service
  • Your provincial consumer protection office

Short-term loans are intended for temporary needs and may not be suitable for long-term financial difficulties.
